Premiere of "Almost within reach..."

Random Access Music presented cellist Kate Dillingham and pianist Amir Khosrowpour at the 2nd annual Queens New Music Festival. Dillingham and Khosrowpour performed 6 new works - 5 world premieres - by the composers of RAM and the Pittsburgh-based collective, Alia Musica, in this collaboration of artists from multiple locales, which included the world premiere of Galindo's Almost within reach... (2013). Also included on the program were works by B. Allen Schulz, David Fetherolf, Wang Jie, Kerrith Levingood, and Federico Garcia.

Performance of selections from Xochitl Cuicatl: Aztec Flower Songs

Tenor Ulises Solano and pianist Karl Larson performed selections from Xochitl Cuicatl: Aztec Flower Songs (2007) which uses classical Nahuatl poetry of the Aztecs (Mexicas). Other works include David Fetherolf's "Nostalgia", arias from Stefan Weisman's new opera, "The Secret Ibis," arias from Manly Romero's opera, "Dreaming of Wonderland," Jonathan Pieslak's "Banchetul," and Wang Jie's "A Prayer - Lord? Please Don't Let Me Die In A Funny Way" featuring an array of singers and pianists.

Wondrous Freedom (2012), written for the New Thread Saxophone Quartet, made the rounds to Flushing. Featured on the program was Erin Roger's "Urban Composites," which included audio samples of distinct urban locations in Queens. Other works on the program were those of various New York based composers.

Premiere of "Canticum Antiquum" for cello and electronics

Seth Woods performed an eclectic and exciting evening of new cello works. The program included Canticum Antiquum (2011) which was written for him. Also on the program were works by Claudio Gabriele, Edward Hamel, Anton Lukoszevieze, and the world premiere of composer and baritone saxophonist Fred Ho's "Burning Sister! The Fire This Time, Prepare For The Matriarchal Revolution."
