Chicago Composers Orchestra Premieres "Hymns of the Sky" on Verdant Cycles

What began in summer 2019, was written throughout the COVID pandemic, and finished in spring 2022 - “Hymns of the Sky” for orchestra - will come to fruition on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. James Cathedral in Chicago, Illinois on the Verdant Cycles concert by the Chicago Composers Orchestra. "Hymns of the Sky" is Gilbert Galindo’s musical response and homage to the expansiveness of the New Mexico sky, setting the stage for it to divulge its secret celestial melodies. “Hymns of the Sky” was written for and commissioned by the Chicago Composers Orchestra.

The concert also features Jeffrey Mumford’s verdant cycles of deepening spring with Christine Wu, violin. and a world premieres by Chicago composer Ben Zucker.
