Gilbert Galindo invites us to “the outer fringe,” sonically in an enthralling duo for violin and cello. "Living Oblivion" will be performed by violinist Lilit Hartunian and cellist Rafael Popper-Keizer of the Dinosaur Annex Music Ensemble. Also on this concert, Malden-based composer and trumpeter Jason Huffman's Parabolysis uses geometric shapes to track changes in pitch and tempo in clever ways. Eun Young Lee’s Jindo, eponymously titled after an island located southwest of the Korean peninsula, pays homage to more than 300 lives—many of them high schoolers—lost in the 2014 sinking of a ferry. Kyong Mee Choi encourages listeners to examine A Bright Side via a scintillating interplay between trumpet and percussion instruments.
